Description
Procter & Gamble’s (P&G) leading tampon brand, Tampax, believes that knowledge is power, the need for education is limitless, and everyone has a right to know their own body. Through the Flow It Forward project, Tampax is on a mission to end the misinformation surrounding health and period care and ensure equal representation and access to medical resources – starting with the Tampax Flow It Forward Scholarship Program, which was created to support the next generation of Black female doctors and healthcare professionals. This program will provide need-based scholarships of up to $10,000 to African American HBCU juniors pursuing healthcare careers, with a demonstrated interest in Black women’s health.
Application Criteria
Be an African American female US citizen or US permanent resident. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Be enrolled full-time as a junior for the 2024-2025 academic year at any US-located accredited 4-year HBCU. Have participated in a service project benefitting women within the last 12 months. Have completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the 2024-2025 academic year, and have a demonstrated unmet financial aid need, as reported to UNCF by the applicant’s institution.

Established in 2023 by the United Health Foundation, the Future Clinicians Scholarship seeks to nurture future health professionals and build healthier communities. This scholarship will support underrepresented students of the health professions who are engaging in self-led community service and research and are developing critical professional skills. This scholarship will also enter students into a robust network of current and future health equity leaders. This renewable scholarship will award $5,000 to 50 underrepresented health profession students, who show leadership in the early stages of their careers and a commitment/interest in research to better understand and/or address health disparities in medically underserved communities. It is open to MD, DO, MSW, DDS, PharmD, and Graduate level nursing and physician-assistant students and can be renewed for up to four years, if eligible.

In 2004, NHHF established the Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship program and its first Gala in New York City for medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy, and public health* students with outstanding academic records and leadership who are committed to serving Hispanics. The following year, NHHF invited the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, Hispanic Dental Association, Latino Caucus of American Public Health Association, the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, NYU, and an honorary committee of New York elected officials to help present NHHF’s first ten scholarships. In 2007, NHHF started its partnership with the United Health Foundation (UHF), which allowed NHHF to increase the number of scholarships it awarded. NHHF’s partnership with UHF offers a unique mentoring program where scholarship recipients are matched with a professional for a one-on-one mentoring program that focuses on their professional growth.
